The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting was to consider an amendment to the FY 2009 budget necessitated by a recalculation of tax revenue by the City, which amounts to a reduction of $19,145. Mr. Hill summarized his proposed budget amendment, which was set forth in a document provided to all board members in advance of the meeting. This proposal recommends that the position of Outreach Coordinator be left vacant after the grant that funds it runs out on September 1 and to suspend publication of newsletter.
A motion was made and seconded to adopt a resolution that incorporated this recommendation after which a discussion occurred. An amendment to the motion was made by Gary Letteron and seconded by Suanne Riveles to retain the Outreach Coordinator and suspend a safety employee position until such point in time when funds are available to cover the cost of a safety employee’s salary. The amendment was passed. At this point Board member Nancy Smith joined the meeting. Mr. Letteron said he was willing to reconsider the motion and a discussion ensued. A second vote on Mr Letteron’s amendment to the original motion failed.
The initial motion (the resolution) was then restated and was passed with no opposition and two abstentions.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
