OUTREACH and COMMUNICATIONS

The CVCBD operates safety and sanitation services as described in other pages of this website. However, making the CVCBD a safe and clean place to live and work, and play requires the cooperation and efforts of everyone. Property owners, residents, nonprofit organizations and businesses alike, must all regularly do their part to improve the quality of life in the community.
Through its Outreach and Communications (O & C) program, the CVCBD plays an important role – together with local community associations - in helping to bring the community together. The purpose of this program is to: organize, inform, and support the community on issues related to sanitation and safety, and to serve as the community’s advocate vis-à-vis City services.
To this end, the O & C staff provides several ongoing services:
The District Bulletin:
The District Bulletin is the CVCBD newsletter. Published three times a year, The Bulletin contains a wide variety of information; including announcements of upcoming meetings and events, updates from Board Members and/or CVCBDMA staff, stories and pictures of community events, and anything else related to the operation of the Benefits District.
A copy of the Bulletin is mailed to every person that owns property in the District. If you would like a copy and did not receive one in the mail there may be some available at a store near you, or you are welcome to pick one up from our offices. They are also available online. (link to newsletter archives)
Crime Alert:
Crime Alert is a weekly email bulletin that the O & C staff produces. It contains crime listings from the police department, Security Updates from Johns Hopkins University, crimes and stories reported by CVCBD residents, and links to other sites that discuss crime in Baltimore. Click here to register to receive the Crime Alert.
Please feel free to submit suggestions on how we can improve our Crime Alert emails or tell us about an incident in the neighborhood that you would like to be put in the next Alert.
Emails may be directed to Katie@charlesvillage.org
Website:
The O & C staff is responsible for ensuring the CVCBDMA website is accurate and up to date.
If you have general questions about the website or information provided there, please call Katie Beltz at 410-235-4411 x 16 and she will help you as best she can.
Email/ Communications System:
We have been working for a while to build up our contact lists here at the CVCBD and strengthen communications with the neighborhood. Just recently we started using a new system called I-Contact. This system is made specifically for emailing different groups and makes it much easier for us to target emails to the right people. It allows us to make the email more visually attractive, and it is easy for you, the email recipient, to change what types of emails you receive. When you get an email through I-Contact you can click on “manage my subscription” where you will be able to choose which categories of emails to receive (you can choose as many or as few as you would like). The group choices include crime alert, business, volunteer opportunities, and groups that target information to the 4 neighborhood associations. Some of you are already signed up and receiving emails, if you’re not go ahead and click here to get to our email sign up form.

Education:
We are currently building our education programs and will put up more information it becomes available. However we do have our information on proper trash disposal ready and available. Click here for for the City of Baltimore's official trash rules for business and household rules. Please click here for information about recycling in your neighborhood.
Regularly Scheduled Events and Activities:
The O & C staff is involved in the organization and promotion of several regularly scheduled events in the District such as National Night Out Against Crime (usually in August), The Mayor’s Spring (usually in April) and Fall (usually in October) Cleanups. For more information on events or if you would like to volunteer please take a look at our volunteering page. Feel free to call the office for more information and/or sign up to receive general emails from the CVCBD which will let you know about upcoming events.
